Green named SEC Special Teams POW

LSU's Skyler Green has been named the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Tigers' 37-7 win over Mississippi State on Saturday, the league office announced on Monday.

Green, a senior from Westwego, La., returned five punts for 78 yards, returned a kickoff 30 yards and caught a career-best nine passes for 64 yards in the LSU victory. In all, he accounted for 172 all-purpose yards in the contest.

Green returned a punt 37 yards to the Mississippi State 21-yard line in the third quarter to set up a Tiger touchdown.

With 78 punt return yards against State, Green became only the fifth player in school history to reach 800 punt return yards in a career. He currently stands at fourth place in LSU history with 873 career punt return yards.

Other weekly SEC honors on Monday were handed out to Alabama quarterback Brodie Croyle (offensive player of the week); Auburn linebacker Travis Williams (defensive player of the week); Tennessee offensive guard Arron Sears (offensive lineman of the week); Alabama defensive end Mark Anderson (defensive lineman of the week); and Auburn running back Brad Lester (freshman of the week).
