Chinasa one of Texas' top rush ends

LSU has two stellar defensive ends already committed for the Class of 2006 in Marcus Tillman and Lazarious Livingston but there could be room for one more. Ugo Chinasa (6-5, 240, 4.7) of Richardson-Berkner is one of the top edge rushers in the Lonestar State and he is planning on setting up his five official visits real soon.

Are the Tigers in the running to get a visit?

"I talked to coach (Todd) Monken last week and we were talking about when I was going to come down," Chinasa said. "I told him I am going to start setting up visits for October and November and they will be one of them."

Chinasa said the other schools that he will likely visit are Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama and Oklahoma State. He claims that everyone is even but the attention he gets from the LSU coaching staff has made a strong impression on him.

"I talk to the coaches there a lot and I really like them," said Chinasa, who carries a 3.4 GPA and reports a 1,330 on the SAT. "They are recruiting me the hardest out of everyone and they do a good job of keeping me in the loop with what is going on."

Many consider Texas the team to beat because it is the in-state power but Chinasa sees several things he likes that could catapult the Tigers ahead of the Longhorns.

"LSU is not that far away from home and it is a good school," he said. "The coaches are real cool and they compete for championships just about every year."

Chinasa said he does not anticipate making a decision anytime soon but he knows what factors will determine where he ends up at.

"I'm looking at the campus life at each school and their academics," he said. "The coaches and defensive scheme will also play a big role in my decision."

Deciding on his college destination has been put on the backburner for now or at least until he wraps up his senior year.

Heading into his senior campaign, Chinasa was regarded by many as one of the top pass rushers in the state. Up until this point he has not done anything to damage his reputation.

""I've got 42 tackles, 7 sacks, 18 quarterback hurries, 1 fumble recovery and 2 forced fumbles," he said.
