Sheppard was actually scheduled to take his visit for the Tennessee game but Hurricane Rita forced him to change his plans.
Now, the two good friends will spend the weekend in Baton Rouge together and they are excited about their upcoming trip.
"We are real excited about this weekend," Riley told Tiger Rag. "We can't wait. We had a lot of fun when we went down over the summer but it is going to be a lot more fun this time."
One reason Riley expects this trip to be more fun is because they will get to experience the game day atmosphere at one of the best venues in all of college football.
LSU linebackers coach Bradley Dale Peveto is recruiting both players and he has told them all about the energy that Tiger Stadium can generate.
"I've heard a lot about it," he said. "I hear it's real crazy on game day. I am real excited about getting to see it first hand."
The last time Tiger Rag spoke to Sheppard he said there was a chance he would commit to the Tigers if it felt right.
Does Riley feel the same?
"I don't think so," he said. "I'll probably take at least one visit before I commit anywhere. The only other place I've been to is Georgia so I would probably want to visit either Tennessee, Virginia Tech or Auburn before deciding."
The five schools Riley alluded to have all offered and appear to be the Tigers' only competition. He said all of them have a lot to offer but there is something that sticks out with LSU.
"They all have food facilities and are always good but the thing that stands out with LSU is the coaches have such good relationships with the players," he said. "The way coach Peveto is with his players is something special. You can just tell by the way he is around them."
