LSU rises in poll to No. 7

LSU continued its climb back up the national rankings on Sunday as the Tigers jumped to No. 7 in both major polls following Saturday's 21-17 win over 11th-ranked Florida in Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers, now 4-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play, moved up one spot from No. 8 to No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches poll and LSU jumped three spots from No. 10 to No. 7 in the Associated Press Top 25.

The first Bowl Championship Series Standings will be released on Monday afternoon.

LSU hosts 15th-ranked Auburn at 6:45 p.m. in Tiger Stadium in a game that will be televised to a national audience by either ESPN or ESPN2.

Southern Cal, Texas and Virginia Tech remain Nos. 1-3, respectively, in both polls. Georgia is the highest-ranked Southeastern Conference team in the rankings, coming in at No. 4 in both polls, followed by Alabama at No. 5.

Other SEC teams in the polls include Tennessee at No. 17 in the AP Poll and No. 18 in the coaches poll; and Florida at No. 18 in the AP poll and No. 19 in the coaches poll.
