LSU opens at No. 6 in first BCS poll

LSU is ranked No. 6 in the first Bowl Championship Series Standings, which were released on Monday.

The Tigers, who are ranked No. 7 in both the Harris Interactive and USA Today Coaches polls, have a 0.7078 BCS average.

Southern Cal is first in the BCS Standings with a 0.9923 average, followed by Texas (0.9591), Virginia Tech (0.9067), Georgia (0.8933) and Alabama (0.8220).

Other Southeastern Conference teams in the BCS Standings include Auburn at No. 18 with a 0.3210 average, Tennessee No. 19 with a 0.2905 average and Florida No. 20 with a 0.2799 average.

The BCS average is calculated by averaging the percent totals of the Harris Interactive and USA Today Polls, and the computer rankings.

The 4-1 Tigers host 5-1 Auburn at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday in Tiger Stadium.
