LSU drops to #8 in BCS poll

Despite its win over 15th-ranked Auburn on Saturday, LSU still dropped two spots to No. 8 in the latest Bowl Championship Series Standings, which were released for the second time this year on Monday.

LSU, winners of four straight, stands at 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play heading into Saturday's non-conference tilt against North Texas. The Mean Green brings a 2-4 mark into Tiger Stadium.

The biggest shakeup in the BCS Standings came at the top when Texas moved past Southern Cal for the No. 1 spot in the standings. Virginia Tech is No. 3 in the standings, followed by Georgia at No. 4 and Alabama at No. 5.

Undefeated UCLA starts the bottom half of the top 10 coming in at No. 6, followed by Miami (Fla.) at No. 7, LSU at No. 8, Penn State at No. 9 and Florida State at No. 10.

The Tigers have a BCS average of .7065 this week, putting LSU percentage points behind both UCLA and Miami.

The BCS average is calculated by averaging the percent totals of the Harris Interactive and USA Today Coaches Polls and the computer rankings.
