The Lady Tigers, who won its two exhibition games by an average of 37.5 points, including a 107-50 victory over Henderson State on Monday night, received three first-place votes and 1,025 points from the 46 voters. LSU landed behind No. 1 Duke (17 first-place votes and 1,107 points) and No. 2 Tennessee (23 first-place votes and 1,102 points).
Ohio State is No. 4, with Rutgers, Baylor, North Carolina, Georgia, UConn and Michigan State rounding out the top 10.
LSU is schedule to play nine top 25 teams this season, including Sunday's opponent, No. 13 Texas Tech.
The Lady Tigers open the regular season against the Lady Raiders at 2:30 p.m. CST in Lubbock on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2, the LSU Sports Radio Network and in the Geaux Zone on LSUsports.net.
