Pontiff Foundation gives back to LSU

The Wally Pontiff Jr. Foundation donated $10,000 to the LSU Athletics Department on Tuesday.

Wally Pontiff, Sr., father of former Tiger great Wally Pontiff, presented a check to LSU athletics director Skip Bertman.

"If Wally was here, this is what he would be doing," the elder Pontiff said. "He always said that he would give back to LSU. And when I see the things that LSU is doing, it makes me proud to make this contribution."

The Wally Pontiff Jr. Foundation was established in memory of the Tiger baseball great whose life ended unexpectedly before his senior season at LSU.

"Wally and Terry Pontiff have done great work in memory of Wally, Jr., and I am proud to accept this gift on behalf of LSU," said Bertman. "This contribution will benefit our many student-athletes who strive to achieve the same level of excellence that Wally achieved both on the field and in the classroom during his career at LSU."
