LSU up to #4 in latest BCS

LSU moved up another spot to No. 4 in the Bowl Championship Series Standings on Monday, however the Tigers remain behind No.3 Penn State.

LSU closes out its regular season on Friday, hosting Arkansas at 1:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. A win over the Razorbacks propels the 9-1 Tigers into the Southeastern Conference Championship Game against Georgia scheduled for Dec. 3 in the Georgia Dome.

Penn State, the only one-loss team ahead of LSU in the BCS Standings, completed its season last week with a Michigan State to finish at 10-1 overall.

Southern Cal remained No. 1 in the standings with a BCS average of .9807, followed by Texas at No. 2 with a .9791 average. Penn State is third with a .8900 average, followed by at LSU at No. 4 with a .8372 average. Virginia Tech rounds out the top five with a .8294 average.

Other SEC teams in the BCS Standings include Auburn at No. 10 with a .6333 average, Alabama at No. 14 with a .4115 average, Georgia at No. 15 with a .4081 average and Florida at No. 23 with a .1602 average.

The BCS average is calculated by averaging the percent totals of the Harris Interactive poll, the USA Today Coaches poll and the computer rankings.

This week, LSU is ranked No. 3 in the AP poll and the USA Today Coaches poll, while having an average computer ranking of No. 8.
