Colorado OL Lewis talks Tigers

Aurora (Col.) Regis Jesuit product Butch Lewis is's 14th ranked offensive lineman in the country and is one of the top two tackles left on LSU's board.

The 6-5, 280-pounder took an unexpected official visit to LSU this past weekend and although Tiger Rag has been unsuccessful at pinning him down to see how the trip went we did get a little bit of scoop from someone who has a vested interest in his recruitment.

"He said he had a real good time down there," said Lewis' mother. "He loved the facilities and said he really enjoyed meeting all of the coaches. He said he ate some real good food and that the people down there had so much Southern hospitality."

Lewis had already been to Georgia and Notre Dame on official visits and his final two are already set for USC and Miami.

Georgia has been mentioned by many as the team to beat for Lewis' signature and those same observers considered LSU a long shot at best. It appears, though, that his latest trip has given him something else to think about.

"He said LSU was right up there with Georgia," said Mrs. Lewis. "He said he isn't ready to name a leader because they are all great schools but I know he really enjoyed himself in Louisiana."
