Fowles named SEC P.o.W.

Sylvia Fowles, a sophomore center for the third-ranked LSU women's basketball team, was named the Southeastern Conference's co-Player of the Week; it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Fowles averaged a double double with 15.6 points 11.7 rebounds and shot 73.1 percent from the floor in LSU's three games during the week.

LSU (7-0, 1-0 SEC) defeated New Orleans at home on Monday before getting past No. 4 Ohio State on Thursday and opening the conference play with a win at Kentucky on Sunday.

Fowles posted a career-high 25 points, grabbed 16 rebound and has four blocks against the fourth-ranked Buckeyes and All-American center Jessica Davenport. The Miami, Fla., native then posted a seven-point, 12 rebounds, four blocked shots performance at Kentucky to lead LSU to its 15th straight conference victory.

The honor, a first for Fowles, was shared it with Ole Miss' Armintie Price.
