Odom pulls the trigger on Tigers

When Bani Gbadyu withdrew his pledge to LSU a little less than a month ago, Les Miles needed to find a linebacker to take his place.

Miles received word the day before Christmas Eve that he had his man.

"I called coach Miles this past Friday and told him that I was ready to commit," said four-star linebacker Derrick Odom of Jackson (Miss.) Callaway.

What made Odom (6-2, 205, 4.6) give the Tigers the nod over Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and the rest of the schools that offered?

"When I went to LSU over the summer I knew then that it would be hard for any other school to top what they had," said Odom "They have the facilities, the players and a good coaching staff. When I went on my visit and my family saw how close it was that pretty much was it. I knew it was time to get it over with."

LSU now has 22 commitments for 2006 counting Trindon Holliday, who signed with the Tigers last year but "gray-shirted" and will count against this year's numbers.

Crunching the numbers on Odom: (Sr.) 164 tackles, 8 sacks, 2 interceptions, 12 forced fumbles and 6 fumble recoveries/2.6 GPA/17 ACT
