LSU offensive guard Will Arnold and defensive end Melvin Oliver have been named to Sports Illustrated's All-Bowl Team, the magazine announced on its website.
The LSU duo was honored following
the Tigers' 40-3 win over ninth-ranked Miami in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The
victory was the largest in a bowl game in school history and it also marked the
Hurricanes worst defeat in a bowl contest.
Arnold returned from an injury that kept him
out of the Southeastern Conference Championship Game to lead an LSU offensive
line that paved the way for a Tiger offense that racked up 468 yards against the
nation's No. 2 rated defense.
The Tigers rushed for 278 yards and
threw for another 196 yards on their way to scoring 40 points against a
Miami team that
went into the contest allowing just 11.9 points per game.
Oliver, a senior from Opelika, Ala., paced a Tiger defense that held the
Hurricanes to a season-low 153 yards of offense, which included just three yards
and no first downs in the second half. The Tigers limited Miami to only 53 yards
rushing and just 100 yards through the air.
Oliver recorded five tackles and a
sack for a 9-yard loss in the win on his way to earning defensive MVP honors for
