Lady Tigers trip to UConn

LSU's third-ranked women's basketball team travels to No. 7 Connecticut for a non-conference made-for-TV match-up on Monday at 6 p.m. CST in the Hartford Civic Center.

The game will be aired live on ESPN2 and can be heard live on the LSU Sports Radio Network.
LSU (14-0, 3-0 SEC) enters the game coming off a 79-46 victory at home over South Carolina on Thursday night. The Lady Tigers' own the nation's third-longest winning streak at 14 straight games.
UConn (15-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) has won three straight games since falling to Tennessee last week. Monday's game will be the fourth game in seven days for the Huskies. UConn defeated Seton Hall, Cincinnati and St. John's in BIG EAST play since the loss.
"Again we step outside of conference play to face perennial power Connecticut," LSU head
coach Pokey Chatman said. "I see this as yet another opportunity for us to get better as a basketball team".
Seimone Augustus leads LSU into the match-up of two of the 2004 NCAA Final Four teams. The senior guard is averaging 20.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore center Sylvia Fowles is the Lady Tigers' top rebounder with 10.5 per game and is adding 17.4 points per contest.
Senior forward Ann Strother leads UConn. She is averaging 15.9 points and 5.6 rebounds, while sophomore guard Mel Thomas is posting 14.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per outing.
This will be just the second meeting between the two schools. UConn won the only other meeting, 86-71, on March 27, 2000 in the NCAA East Regional Final in Richmond, Va.
Following the game LSU will return to Southeastern Conference action by hosting Alabama on Thursday at 7 p.m. CST in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
