The Tigers are having a "Retro Night" for the LSU-Georgia contest in which tickets for the 300 level of the Maravich Center will be rolled back from $14 to $6 for the game and cokes will be sold at the concession stands for just $1. There will be retro music throughout the game and the first 1,000 LSU fans will get a retro toy, an LSU logo slinky.
The LSU team will also for the first time wear their "retro" uniforms from the Pete Maravich era which have been specially created as part of a "Throwback Uniform" program developed by the league. Each SEC member school designated a previous year's uniform as its throwback uniform in association with the program. Each school has a home and away version of the uniform.
The SEC along with Collegiate Licensing Company has developed the program with input from the manufacturer working with each SEC member institution, including Adidas, Nike and Russell Athletics. The uniforms will be worn for all games Feb. 18-26 as part of "SEC Throwback Week" and the specially designed uniforms will be worn for all games of the 2006 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, March 9-12, in Nashville, Tenn., as the league's tournament theme is "celebrating eight decades of championship basketball."
LSU's win over Alabama Saturday put the Tigers at 4-0 in the SEC and after play concluded on Saturday, the Tigers enter the week as the last remaining undefeated team in the league. LSU is 4-0 in the SEC and 12-5 overall. Georgia, coming off a home 72-65 win over previously undefeated Ole Miss, is now 12-6 and 2-3 in the SEC. LSU has now won 11 straight home games in league play in the Maravich Center dating back to the final home game of the 2003-04 season.
