A guy who has college coaches chomping at the bits is Sterlington's super wide out prospect Ahmad Paige and for good reason.
Paige stands at 6-foot-3, weighs 165 pounds and is clocked regularly in the 4.4-range in the forty-yard dash.
Aside from having the height and speed coaches covet at his position, Paige also has superior athleticism which is evident by his 37" vertical.
As a junior, Paige was a first team all-state selection after hauling in 44 passes for 1,202 yards and 14 touchdowns. As impressive as those stats are, though, what really sticks out is the fact that he averaged over 27 yards a catch and found the end zone nearly once every three times he caught the ball.
"Ahmad has a lot of the skills coaches are looking for," said Sterlington head coach Dell Ashley. "He is fast, tall and he has good hands. The kid has great speed and great character. He is just an exceptional athlete."
Arkansas has already extended a scholarship offer and schools like Texas, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech are already sending lots of mail and requests for highlight film.
LSU offensive line coach Stacey Searels will be in charge of recruiting Paige for the Tigers and he wants to get him down to Baton Rouge soon.
"Coach Searels came by school a couple of weeks ago and talked to my coach," Paige said. "He was talking about the recruits they were going to sign this year and asking if I would be interested in going to junior day."
Will Paige make the trip down from North Louisiana on March 4?
"Me and my dad were talking about it today and we have already made plans to go," said Paige.
If LSU was to extend an offer on that trip is there a chance Paige would commit?
"I'm a big LSU fan," he said. "I'm a huge LSU fan. LSU is easily at the top of my list. If they offered I wouldn't have a problem committing early."
