Going to Florida

LSU's second-ranked women's basketball team begins the stretch run of the Southeastern Conference schedule on Thursday when they visit Florida at 6 p.m. CST in the O'Connell Center.

LSU (22-1, 10-0 SEC) is coming off wins at No. 5 Tennessee and against No. 13 Georgia last week and hold a two-game lead in the SEC with four games left on the schedule.

Florida (18-6, 6-5 SEC) is coming off a home loss to South Carolina on Sunday, but has won three of the last four. The Gators sit in the fifth-place tie in the league standings.

The Lady Tigers continue to stifle opponents on the defensive end of the floor and lead the nation is scoring defense, allowing just 51.0 points per game.

"We'll look to carry some defensive momentum into Gainesville to help neutralize their ability to attack from the perimeter as well as the post," LSU head coach Pokey Chatman said.

LSU has held 15 of its opponents to 55 points of less this season, including five conference foes.

Florida has three starters that average double figures in points, led by senior forward Dalila Eshe with 13.6 points per game. Fellow senior forward Brittany Davis is scoring 12.3 points per outing and freshman point guard Sha Brooks is posting 12.1 points.

Seimone Augustus leads LSU into the game. The senior guard is averaging a league-best 21.1 points per game, while Sylvia Fowles is posting 16.6 points and a conference-best 11.5 rebounds per contest.

This will be the 28th meeting between the two schools. LSU leads the series 19-8 and has won six straight meetings, including sweeping a pair last season, 64-47, in Gainesville and, 76-52, in Baton Rouge.

Following the game LSU will return home to host Arkansas in the second-to-last home game on the season on Sunday at 2 p.m. CST.
