LSU goes 6-2 on Super Tiger Weekend

Wins in men's and women's basketball along with a sweep in baseball highlighted another successful Super Tiger Weekend for LSU as the Tigers posted a 6-2 overall mark at home over the past four days.

In all, 27,673 fans watched LSU's eight events on campus this weekend, including 11,576 fans for LSU's win over Kentucky in men's basketball on Saturday and 10,074 for the Seimone Augustus' final home game as a Lady Tiger on Sunday.

The women's basketball team clinched its second straight Southeastern Conference title on Sunday, beating Mississippi State, 62-48. The victory sent the Lady Tigers to the school's first back-to-back league titles and gave LSU the No. 1 seed at this week's Southeastern Conference Tournament in North Little Rock, Ark.

In men's basketball, the Tigers remained a full game ahead of Tennessee in the league standings with a 71-67 win over Kentucky on Saturday. Glen Davis scored 28 points and hauled in 15 rebounds to lead the Tigers to the victory on a day in which LSU's 1986 Final Four team was honored at the Maravich Assembly Center.

The 15th-ranked baseball team ran its record to 10-1 with a sweep over Temple. LSU beat the Owls, 4-1, on Friday night and then followed with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday by scores of 9-0 and 14-4.

Tony Minnis' women's tennis team ran its record to 6-1 overall with a 6-1 win over Lamar on Sunday.

Other LSU action during Super Tiger Weekend had the gymnastics team falling to Oklahoma, despite scoring a season-high of 196.575, while the men's tennis team came up just short against Clemson on Thursday, dropping a 4-3 decision.
