Well, on Wednesday Ridley made it as official as he possibly could by backing off his early pledge to the Rebels.
"We called coach Orgeron yesterday (Wednesday) and told him I was de-committing," Ridley told Tiger Rag.
It has always been a dream of Ridley's to play for LSU and it looks like that dream could be coming true.
"I'm probably going to commit on Monday to LSU," Ridley said. "I'm going to think about it over the weekend and then call coach Miles to give him the OK."
What are the chances of Ridley doing just that?
"If I wasn't pretty positive about what I wanted to do then I wouldn't have de-committed from Ole Miss," he said. "I just want to sleep on it a little before I make my final decision."
LSU head coach Les Miles is well aware that the standout running back is back on the open market and he gave Ridley a few words of advice in a text message.
"He said just to think about what I want to do and then to make a decision," Ridley said. "He said if I want to play for LSU then that is great but if not then I need to make the best decision for myself. That approach right there is why I like coach Miles so much."
There is going to be a lot of chatter on internet message boards as to why Ridley backed off of Ole Miss so before rumors get started here is what he had to say.
"The main factor was location," he said. "LSU is closer than Ole Miss is and the program is all around better. I don't want to cheat myself by not going and playing with the best. That is what LSU presents."
