Wooden Award to be announced Saturday

Seimone Augustus, one of the five finalists for the 2006 Women's Wooden Award given to the nation's top player, will be represented for the live television broadcast of the "John R. Wooden Award Show Presented by TIAA-CREF" on CBS this Saturday at 1 p.m. CDT from the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

Augustus, a 6-1 guard for the Final Four participant LSU Lady Tigers' basketball team, was one of five finalists for the honor, along with Duke's Monique Currie, North Carolina's Ivory Latta, Oklahoma's Courtney Paris and Cappie Pondexter of Rutgers.

The winner of the annual Wooden Award will not be announced until the show.

Augustus, who is in Australia with the United States Women's National team, will be represented at the awards show by her parents Kim and Seymore Augustus.

During the 30 minute show on CBS, both the men's Wooden Award and Women's Wooden Award winners will be announced and the five member Wooden Award All-America team will be recognized.
