One of the top prospects in the state of Florida is Lakewood High School defensive back Ahmad Black and he has been giving LSU serious consideration as of late.
Black, a 5'10'' 170 lb. cornerback with 4.5 speed, has already received offers from 10 schools throughout the country following All-County and All-State performances the past two seasons, and looks to play a key role in Lakewood's quest for a third-straight state championship.
Ahmad will be attending the Nike football camp in May, and then plans to hit the weight room hard hoping to improve on his strength prior to his final high school season.
Among schools giving him offers so far are LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Georgia and Nebraska, but Black says LSU has the edge over the others right now.
LSU defensive coach Earl Lane has been contacting Black regularly regarding making him a future tiger, and both feel the program could be a good fit for Black.
"I've always really liked LSU," said Black. "Coach Lane has been good to talk to about the team. I also like the program's history and that they seem to be playing in bowl games year after year. I think I could do pretty well there."
He's also mentioned to coach Lane that he has considered making a commitment to the program.
Ahmad has not been able to visit Baton Rouge yet because of travel hindrances, but is excited about making his official visit in the fall.
Other programs catching his eye thus far include Ohio State and Clemson, who Black likes because of their reputation for sending players to the NFL.
"I have all my visits planned out," Black commented. "I want to check out some more schools but I have an idea about what [schools] I like and LSU is definitely one of them."
