Tigers sign JUCO infielder

Infielder Bobby DiLiberto of Mesa (Ariz.) Community College has signed a national letter-of-intent with the LSU baseball program. DiLiberto is scheduled to enroll at LSU in August, and he will be eligible to play for the Tigers during the 2003 season

DiLiberto, a native of Chicago, hit .455 last season for Mesa CC, collecting 22 homers, 29 doubles, 90 runs and 97 RBI. He was named Arizona JUCO Player of the Year, and he was voted the MVP of JUCO Region I.

Mesa Community College finished the 2002 season with a 42-13 record and won the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference title with a 28-10 mark.

A 5-10, 190-pound right-handed batter, DiLiberto prepped at Chicago's De La Salle High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to major in political science at LSU.
