Laval announces suspension of pitcher

LSU baseball coach Smoke Laval announced Thursday that senior pitcher Chase Dardar has been indefinitely suspended due to a violation of team rules.

Dardar, a right-hander from Marrero, La., has served as the Tigers' closer this season, leading the pitching staff with 16 appearances.

Dardar has recorded a 5-2 mark with a 2.84 ERA in 25.1 innings, posting 12 walks, 20 strikeouts and a team-best four saves.

Laval said Dardar will be allowed to participate in Saturday's Senior Day ceremony prior to LSU's 2 p.m. game versus Vanderbilt in Alex Box Stadium. Dardar and six other LSU seniors will be recognized on the field prior to the contest.
