Jones was scheduled to visit LSU unofficially a couple of weeks back but with the majority of the coaches on the road recruiting the visit was put on hold.
"They told me to wait and come up this summer for a camp because all of the coaches would be there and I could meet them all," Jones told Tiger Rag. "Coach (Bradley Dale) Peveto and coach (Les) Miles came to see me instead."
With so many outstanding defensive tackles on the board there has to be something about Jones that caught the LSU coaches' eye but what was it?
"They like the spirit I have and play with," Jones explained. "They say I have it all—strength, power and speed."
More than ever before LSU is a
force to be reckoned with in
While Jones says that Peveto has done a great job of recruiting him he also says that LSU can sell itself.
"LSU is close to home and it's a solid program," he said. "I like the defense they run and how it is a defensive school. They always play good defense and they always have strong defensive lines. They have a real good coaching staff and they win a lot."
Jones' brother, Hiwatha Hickman, is the defensive line coach at Silsbee and he also thinks highly of the opportunity LSU presents.
"My brother says that if I want to go to a school that knows defense then LSU would be the best choice," said Jones.
Does Ahmad agree with his brother?
