As Scout.com's No. 5 rated receiver in the country, Ron Brooks (6-0, 170, 4.5) said that of the 24 or 25 offers he has received, LSU is one of the schools recruiting him the hardest.

Last season for Irving (Texas) McArthur, Brooks pulled down 51 receptions for 793 yards and eight touchdowns. As a quarterback, he rushed 50 times for 298 yards and two touchdowns. Those stats helped earn him first-team all-district honors as well as being named to the "Who's Who" list in his region.

Brooks said he hasn't begun to narrow down his top teams just yet.

"I'm trying to wait until I get all my options in," said the five-star wideout, who claims offers from the Tigers, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Florida, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa, Iowa State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Purdue, to name a few.

"I'm going to play quarterback next year so a lot of schools want to see how that goes. I expect to get more offers after the football season. But right now, LSU is definitely one of my top schools on my list."

Brooks said LSU has done a good job of keeping in touch with him.

"I've talked to just about all of them (coaches), even coach Miles," said Brooks. "It's been about a month and a half since I talked to anybody though. Nebraska is the last school I talked to. LSU, Florida, Oklahoma and Nebraska have all been at the top as far as recruiting me the hardest."

Brooks said LSU has been on his mind.

"What I've heard and what I know I would say I like LSU a lot and they are a good team," Brooks said. "I am strongly considering LSU."

Coaches told Brooks they look to utilize his speed in many facets of the game.

"They said they liked my speed and quickness and said they would like to use me for punt returns and kick-off returns. I like kick-off and punt returns because I just like trying to make something big happen."

Brooks said his goals for next year will be two-fold, better grades and good quarterback play.

"My grades were ok, but I think I can do better," Brooks said. "I ended up with a 2.8 GPA. I took the ACT yesterday and I think I did all right. My goal for next season, since I'll be playing quarterback, will be to be the number one passer in the area."
