The last few weeks have been very interesting with some of the corners on LSU's recruiting board and on Monday there was another twist but this time it played to the Tigers' favor.
LSU picked up its ninth commitment
for 2007 as Delvin Breaux of New Orleans (
"Coach Miles worked me during the afternoon on Sunday and he said he liked my size and the way I covered," Breaux said. "LSU has a lot of positives because my dad spent some time there and it's in our backyard. After talking to coach Miles, I could tell he was a good man and the kind of man I want to play for."
Breaux (6-0, 185, 4.5) played his
junior season at Southern Lab in
"It's good to get back home," he said. "I enjoyed being playing for coach (Michael) Roach at South Lab but we needed to get back home and get our lives back."
Initially, Breaux was projected as a free safety by some but after his workouts over the past couple of days, it looks like he will play out on the island.
"Coach Miles said he likes my size
and how I play physical," said Breaux, who chose the Tigers over offers from
Delvin's brother, Lionel Breaux, is also being recruited by the Tigers but with so many blue-chip wide receivers on the board, the Tigers are going to evaluate him a little further.
"They said they like him but want to see him play some more before offering," Delvin said.
Note: Delvin Breaux is a class act on and off the field. He is one of those high character guys you want to bring into your program and a good pickup for the Tigers. Delvin reports a 3.1 GPA and he took the ACT for the first time last weekend.
