Patin Looking for Offer in Writing

Baton Rouge linebacker Earl Patin was one of the many players to attend LSU's camp last week and he is hoping his performance was enough to get his scholarship offer from the Tigers in writing.

The 6-1, 220-pound Southern Lab standout used his 4.75 40-speed to tally 80 tackles, six sacks and eight tackles for a loss last season. His stats and play on the field earned him all-district as well as first-team all-state honor last season.

Patin claims that he has received 12 offers so far and he received a verbal offer from the Tigers a while ago. Some of the other offers he has racked up include Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Nebraska and Clemson.

All of those schools mentioned have put their offer on paper but that still is not enough to put them ahead of the hometown team.

"They're at the top," Patin said of the Tigers. "I went to their camp last weekend and I think I did pretty good. The coaches really didn't say too much about me because they know what I'm about."

Patin said he plans on attending a number of other camps over the summer.

"I'm going to be looking around this summer," said Patin. "I'm heading to California on the 20th to take part in a camp for USC. I also plan to go to a camp for Ohio State and maybe one of Florida's camps if I can make it."

Patin said that right now his top teams are LSU, Florida, Miami and Nebraska. He admits that one reason he has LSU at the top is because of the familiarity he has with the coaching staff.

"I haven't really worked out for any of those other coaches though," he said. "I like the coaches at LSU because of the way they treat you and they push you to be the best you can be. They're real energetic and I like that. "

Patin said this fall he doesn't know how many schools he will get to visit.

"I haven't really made any plans for anything like that but I guess we'll see," he said.
