Brandon Jacobs picks LSU

The monster back who blazed a trail during the 2000 Louisiana high school football season plans to return to his home state to play college football. Brandon Jacobs has told media sources he plans to enroll at LSU after completing his eligibility at Coffeyville Community College.

Jacobs (6-4, 245) originally signed with Auburn out of Assumption High School in 2001 but did not qualify to enroll at the Southeastern Conference school. After earning his general equivalency diploma, he chose to attend Coffeyville Community College in Kansas.

In his freshman season for the Ravens, Jacobs was used as the No. 2 back and gained 927 yards on 130 carries. He totaled 13 touchdowns.

As a senior at Assumption, Jacobs was unstoppable on the ground. He totaled 3,032 yards and 35 touchdowns while leading the Mustangs to the semifinal round of Class 4A playoffs. Jacobs was named the 4A Offensive MVP at the end of the season after averaging 215 rushing yards a game.

Jacobs has spent the last week in Louisiana and reportedly went to the LSU campus where he met with current players and confirmed his decision to play with the Bayou Bengals.
