Proctor Will Be Back

LSU originally began recruiting Sam Proctor as an athlete and after his impressive display at quarterback and defensive back during last week's camp he is now one of the athletes on LSU's recruiting board for 2007.

"My camp went very well and I had a wonderful time," said Sam Proctor. "Once again I was able to see LSU's great facilities and get another feel for the campus and the program."

As a junior at Dobie High School in Texas, Proctor (6-1, 195, 4.5) played quarterback where he passed for 800 yards and seven touchdowns. He also rushed for 700 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Proctor will play his senior season at Pearland High School and is expected to get a lot of exposure under center. He hopes that what he learned at LSU's camp will help him get to where he needs to be and he got some words of encouragement from the Tigers' coaches.

"I worked with the quarterback's coach and I was impressed with his knowledge of the game," said Proctor. "He was able to teach me things in just the three days I was there. I talked with Les Miles and he said that I may have the ability to start off as a quarterback depending on how I progress. They also like what I can do as a safety and maybe even corner."

Proctor said LSU had been one of his favorites, but after last week's camp, they have begun to distance themselves from the other schools. He said that he received his offer back in January, and has received five offers since from schools like Oklahoma, Kansas State, University of Houston, TCU and Oklahoma State.

What stands out about the Tigers?

"I like how they are always in a position to win a national championship," said Proctor. "I'm looking forward to watching them win a bunch of games next season. The coaches are really the best group of guys I've met. They made me feel wanted and made me feel like I had a home at LSU."

LSU's camp was the only one Proctor attended this summer and said that he will be heading back for an official visit this fall.

"No doubt about it," he said. "I will be back."

Note: Proctor reports a 2.9 GPA and a 1270 SAT.
