Tigers Target No. 2 Rated Center for 2008

Standing 6'10" and weighing 216 pounds, Greg Monroe would be a great addition to LSU's squad.

LSU had some high-profile out-of-state recruits in town for the 45-3 thrashing of Arizona and one made his way all the way down from the Volunteer state.

3-star linebacker Chris Walker of Memphis (Tenn.) Christian Brothers said he enjoyed his unofficial visit to LSU and that he has planned a return trip to witness the LSU/ Alabama game later in the year.

"It was nice, real nice," said Walker of his experience in bayou country. "It was what I expected. The fans there are something else. All they do is yell the entire game. It's great. I like the student section. It reminded me of me and my friends."

Walker said one thing he was impressed with was the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium.

"It was electric," Walker said. "Even though they were up big on Arizona, the fans were still out there supporting the team and yelling."

One thing that caught Walker's eye was the play of the defense of LSU and that he was most impressed by one player in particular.

"They were fast and they hit hard," said Walker. "They all fly to the ball and I like that the most. That's how I like to play.

"I loved watching LaRon Landry. He just seemed to always be around the ball at all times. And when he got there he made sure to hit you."

Right now, Walker said his top teams are LSU, Alabama, Tennessee and Clemson. His next game will be the Tennessee, Florida game in Knoxville, Tenn. He said his visit this weekend didn't change the order of his favorites, which he would not divulge to Tiger Rag.

"They're pretty much still the same," said Walker. "I talked with all the coaches after the game, including coach Miles. He was just telling me how he wants a player like me. He said he'd take me right now if he could."

Not only did the LSU coaches show Walker the love but he also got some from the fans and was able to experience tailgating in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night.

"Everybody was pretty nice the whole time," said Walker. "We walked around and did some tailgating. We saw some people and talked about football and stuff."
