St. Martinville Youman an LSU target?

With three tight ends already committed in this class, LSU has things all wrapped up at that position. There are a couple of tight ends that the Tigers are recruiting for other positions, though, and one of them is St. Martinville (La.) product Wilson Youman (6-4, 260, 4.8).

Youman is not as familiar with the defensive side of the ball but he has already started to adjust to playing on the edge and has started to find some things he likes about it.

"I like to hit," he admitted. "I've played a lot as a tight end but I'm starting to really get used to defensive end."

So far Youman has received offers from practically every Louisiana school except LSU, and is getting some strong interest from a few big-time programs.

"Right now I've got offers from USM, UL, UL Monroe and Northwestern," said Youman. "Some other schools that are looking at me though are Georgia Tech, Arkansas and Nebraska."

What are some things Youman likes about LSU?

"Just the school itself is great," said Youman. "I just love how everything feels on a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. The intensity is amazing. I went last year during the Auburn game and that was pretty intense. I wouldn't really consider myself an LSU fan, but I do like that school. LSU is my first choice if they offer."

Youman said he hasn't set up his official visits yet, but that LSU will be one of the schools he visits first.

"I'm thinking about going to LSU, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, maybe Ole Miss and Nebraska," said Youman.

Youman has been recruited by coach (Bradley Dale) Peveto and said there are some things he likes about him.

"He's a good person and he's real easy to talk too," said Youman. "Everything went good at camp. They got to see that I was working harder and see that I would work harder. They saw that I would give my best no matter what."

Next season, he said he hopes giving his all will help his team achieve its ultimate goal.

"We've really been working hard this summer to get where we are," said Youman. "I really want to do my part to do my best and just help the team. I know if I go out there and give 100 and 10 percent, I'll be maximizing my potential."

Note** Youman said he has a 2.9 GPA and scored a 17 on his ACT, but plans to retake it.
