Chris Walker Heading to B.R.

This weekend, linebacker Chris Walker will make the six hour drive from Memphis, Tenn., to Baton Rouge to watch the Tigers take on the Arizona Wildcats.

This will be an unofficial visit for the 3-star backer out of the Volunteer state as Walker said he is saving his official visits for after the season.

"This is just going to be an unofficial visit," he explained. "I went this summer and kind of got a feel for it, I just want to see the game-day atmosphere. I just want to see what it's like because I've heard it's a lot of fun."

Last season, for Christian Brothers High in Memphis, Tenn., Chris Walker recorded 83 tackles, 11.5 for loss, one interception returned for a touchdown and four sacks. He earned first-team all-state honors.

Walker said he will be watching the defense for certain traits.

"I'll be looking at the defense and how the team plays," said Walker. "I want to see how aggressive they are and how they play as a team. I saw a glimpse when I watched the Peach Bowl against Miami."

Walker described his itinerary for the weekend.

"We are going to leave Friday night after my game and start driving," he confided. "We'll get in early Saturday morning and spend the night. I've checked out the apartments there, and the dorms where the athletes stay, and I like it. We'll probably leave after the game that night."

Walker said he is planning to work in some tailgating before the game but he hasn't worked out the details just yet.

Walker also plans to take an unofficial visit to Tennessee in coming weeks to witness the Florida game.

"There's a bunch of games I want to check out, so I'll probably be doing that during the season," he explained. "After the season is over, I'll take my official visits once I really narrow down my top five teams."

Walker wouldn't pick a favorite but did give his top teams at this juncture of the recruiting process.

"Right now, my top teams are LSU, Alabama, Tennessee and Clemson," he admitted to Tiger Rag. "With all of those teams I feel real comfortable with the coaching staff. They are all young and energetic. All the schools have great tradition and I just like the head coaches."

For now, Walker is content to simply enjoy his senior season.

"We came up a little bit short of our goal last year and we don't want to go through that again," he said. "We want to win it this time. As far as school, I'm liking it. It's pretty fun going through my senior year."
