Dorsey named SEC Defensive Lineman of Week

LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for the second straight week following his performance against Auburn on Saturday. Dorsey, a junior from Gonzales, recorded eight tackles, three tackles for losses and 1.5 sacks in LSU's 7-3 loss to third-ranked Auburn.

Dorsey's three tackles behind the line of scrimmage resulted in 17-yards in losses for Auburn. He also added a quarterback hurry.

Dorsey led an LSU defense that limited Auburn to only 182 yards of offense.

Through three games, LSU's defense ranks No. 1 in the nation in total yards (170.0 yards per game), No. 2 in passing defense (96.67 yards per game) and No. 3 in scoring defense (4.33 points per game).

A week ago, Dorsey was honored as the league's defensive lineman of the week for his efforts in LSU's win over Arizona.

For the year, Dorsey ranks second in the squad with 17 tackles, six of which have gone for losses. He also has a pair of quarterback sacks for the Tigers.

Other honors handed out by the SEC on Monday include: Kentucky quarterback Andre' Woodson (offensive player of the week); Florida linebacker Earl Everett (defensive player of the week); Auburn punter Kody Bliss (special teams player of the week); Georgia offensive guard Fernando Velasco (offensive lineman of the week); and Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain (freshman of the week).
