Big weekend on campus starts Friday night

A big weekend on the LSU campus starts on Friday night when LSU coach Les Miles along with three team captains participate in the Homecoming pep rally at the Parade Grounds. The pep rally starts at 6 p.m. and Miles along with wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, running back Justin Vincent and defensive back Jessie Daniels will be introduced to the crowd at approximately 6:30 p.m.

LSU Chancellor Sean O'Keefe, the LSU cheerleaders and Mike the Tiger will also take part in the pep rally.

LSU's 13-ranked ranked volleyball team will be in action on Friday on campus as the Tigers face South Carolina at 7 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center. LSU's soccer team is also in action on Friday as they host Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex.

On Saturday, the LSU cross country teams host the annual LSU Tiger Cross Country Festival starting at 7:45 a.m. at Highland Road Park.

Country music sensation Brooks and Dunn will put on a free concert beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Parade Grounds on Saturday. Gates to the Parade Grounds open at 9:30 a.m.

The 10th-ranked football team then takes center stage that night as the Tigers host Tulane at 7 o'clock in a sold out Tiger Stadium. The game will be the first between the teams since 2001 when LSU posted a 48-17 win over the Green Wave in Tiger Stadium.

Former Tiger great and 1959 Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon will be honored during the first quarter break on Saturday night and then at halftime, the 2006 LSU Homecoming King and Queen will announced.

The weekend is capped off on Sunday with both the soccer and volleyball teams in action in key Southeastern Conference contests. The volleyball team hosts Georgia at 1:30 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center, while the Tiger women's soccer team hosts Kentucky at 1 p.m. at the LSU Soccer Complex.
