Bertman issues statement on impending scandal

An article in the Tuesday mornign edition of the Baton Rouge Advocate has stirred up allegations of possible improprieties within the LSU Baseball program involving athletic director Skip Bertman and former coach Smoke Laval. Bertman issued a statement Tuesday afternoon addressing the article.

LSU athletic director Skip Bertman issued the following statement on Tuesday:

"LSU Baseball has achieved great success on the foundation of excellence and integrity.  But during the course of the transition of coaching staffs, we discovered some inconsistencies in the management of housing arrangements for our baseball players.  In instances such as this, it is the responsibility of the compliance director to determine if any violations of NCAA regulations have occurred.  Chris Howard (Associate AD for Compliance) has been given full latitude to determine the extent of these circumstances.  He will question as many people as possible and travel as many places as necessary to conduct this review while communicating with the SEC and NCAA offices to bring a close to this matter.  I appeal to all LSU baseball players, past and present, to fully cooperate with Chris in this review."
