Back at it soon

LSU commit John Williams had to be helped off the field when his Breaux Bridge squad squared off against St. Thomas More and many have speculated as to the extent of his injury.

We caught up with John Williams and's 4-star cornerback said his recent injury is minor and that he should be back on the field for the Tigers in about two weeks.

"It's not real bad; it's a little MCL tear and I should be out a couple of weeks," said Williams. "It wasn't a real big hit or anything; I just got my feet stuck under me when the guy came to tackle me."

What did doctors tell Williams?

"They said it's a grade 2 injury. Once they put me in therapy and I put a brace on, I started to feel a lot better. I'm not in pain right now; I just can't bend it too much. When I do I feel a little pain."

Williams said he is doing well in rehab.

"They've been icing it and I've been doing daily exercises," he said. "They put stimulators on it and stuff like that. When I get out of therapy I'm a little stiff and a little sore, but I'm walking around on it."

Before his injury, Williams was having a standout season. He had totaled 12 touchdowns, two on punt returns, four through the air and the rest he ran in himself.

"The back up quarterback is playing really well right now so the team is still doing ok without me," said Williams. "The coaches don't want me doing anything that will get me hurt again so they are taking their time with working me back into the lineup. They told me that when I come back I will probably play on defense a little and wide receiver."

Williams said that the goal is still the same.

"We want to get back to the playoffs and hopefully make it back to the state championship," he said. "Last year we did it, but we didn't play well. We should have competed a little better."

Note** Williams said no other schools have been recruiting him since he committed to LSU. He said he will be attending the Kentucky game this weekend. He said he is maintaining his 3.3 GPA and scored a 19 on his ACT.
