Bowe joins LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell as Tigers who have been recognized by the league as the offensive player of the week this year. Russell was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week following games against Mississippi State and Kentucky.
Bowe caught four passes for 106 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown, in LSU's 38-6 win over Fresno State on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
Bowe's fourth quarter touchdown ran his career total to 21, which ties Michael Clayton for the school record in that category.
Bowe also became just the sixth player in LSU history to reach the 2,000-yard milestone for receiving yards. Bowe currently ranks sixth in school history in receiving yards with 2,033 and he's seventh in LSU history in career receptions with 126.
For the year, Bowe 37 catches for 620 yards and seven touchdowns.
Other honors handed out by the SEC on Monday include: Tennessee linebacker Jerod Mayo as the defensive player of the week; Arkansas running back Felix Jones as the special teams player of the week; Auburn offensive tackle King Dunlap as the offensive lineman of the week; South Carolina defensive end Casper Brinkley as the defensive lineman of the week; and Georgia freshman quarterback Matthew Stafford at the freshman of the week.
