Two Tigers named preseason all-SEC

Two members of the LSU men's basketball team were selected Monday to the 2006-07 Pre-season All-SEC team as chosen by the league coaches.

The team consisted of two eight-player units, voted on by the head coaches. No ties were broken and coaches could not vote for members of their own teams.

Glen Davis, the junior forward from Baton Rouge who was the 2006 SEC Player of the Year, was one of four unanimous selections on the first team. Sophomore Tasmin Mitchell, from Denham Springs, was selected as one of the eight players on the pre-season second team.

Joining Davis as unanimous selections on the first team were Ronald Steele of Alabama, Joakim Noah of Florida and Chris Lofton of Tennessee.

The SEC holds its annual media day on Wednesday in Birmingham. LSU and Florida, the two schools representing the league in the NCAA Final Four a year ago, are scheduled to open the event in the first session at 10:30 a.m.
