Prospect Roundup

Stevan Ridley blew up again on Friday and is having a sensational senior campaign.

LSU Prospects

Jarrett Lee completed 14-of-25 for 171 yards with a pair of touchdowns and a pair of interceptions in leading Brenham (Texas) to a 21-6 victory over Caney Creek in the regular season finale. The 4-star signal caller finished the regular season with 1,880 yards and 24 TDs with 6 INTs. Lee completed 61 percent of his passes and led Brenham to a 9-1 regular season campaign.

Stevan Ridley continues to dominate the opposition as he ran for 159 yards on 12 carries and scored 3 TDs, while adding a pair of scores through the air and 77 yards on 3-of-3 passing in Natchez (Miss.) Trinity Episcopal's 54-22 playoff win over North Delta.

Gabriel Bryant, who at one time was an LSU commitment, grabbed a pair of touchdown passes in Desire Street Academy's 32-2 win over Country Day.

It appears that interest from LSU is fading for Dez Bryant but the 4-star receiver continues to post impressive numbers. Against Conroe (Texas) he caught four passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns as Lufkin rolled 41-13.

Gilbert Moye, who is an athlete on the board, led Diboll (Texas) to a 42-15 win over Carthage. Moye broke loose for a 65-yard touchdown run and finished with 91yards on the ground. He also completed 2-of-4 through the air for 46 yards and a touchdown.

A pair of future Tigers helped Bastrop advance to the second round of the playoffs by beating Belle Chasse 48-19. DeAngelo Benton had four receptions for 109 yards and two touchdowns from 22 and 45 yards out. Kentravis Aubrey and the Ram defense did its part by limiting Belle Chasse to 231 yards of total offense.

Louisiana's top player, Joe McKnight, got only a few touches and did not play long in John Curtis' 55-14 win over Pine. The 5-star running back caught a pair of passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. That brought McKnight's season totals to 494 yards on 14 catches with nine touchdowns, to go with his 609 yards rushing and nine scores on 37 carries. Defensively, Jonathan "Tank" English had a big game with six tackles, a sack and four quarterback hurries.

4-star safety Stefoin Francois logged six stops in East St. John's 56-22 win against New Iberia Senior High.

5-star receiver Demetrius Byrd grabbed a 35-yard touchdown pass with 44 seconds left to play in the game to lift Pearl River Community College to a 21-20 win over Col-Lin in the MACJC State Championship game. Byrd redeemed himself for dropping a pass in the first half that could have gone all the way for six. Co-Lin had an opportunity to win the game but missed a 43-yard field goal with two ticks left on the clock. Byrd now has 43 catches for 702 yards and 5 TDs on the season.

Alex Russian and his Round Rock (Texas) squad clinched a playoff berth with a 21-7 win over Pflugerville.

3-star running back Shawnbrey McNeal rushed only five times but gained 240 yards and had four long TD runs to lift for Dallas (Texas) Madison to a 48-21 win over Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis.

4-star receiver Ron Brooks rushed for 166 yards and scored two touchdowns but it was not enough as Irving (Texas) MacArthur fell to Irving-Nimitz 20-15.

Josh Jasper accounted for his team's only points of the evening in Memphis (Tenn.) Ridgeway's 6-3 loss in the second round of the state playoffs. Jasper booted a 39-yard field goal but he did have a punt blocked to set Wooddale up for a field goal of its own.

Terrell Edwards had a big first half in Mobile (Ala.) UMS Wright's 42-28 playoff win over Jess Lanier High School. He ran for 110 yards on 16 carries with two scoring runs from 18 and 13 yards out.

LSU is recruiting Phelon Jones as a corner but the 4-star prospect showed he can also play a little wide out in McGill-Toolen's 35-7 victory against Stanhope Elmore. Jones averaged over 32 yards a catch on his three receptions that totaled 97 yards.'s No. 1 rated running back Noel Devine scampered for 149 yards on 21 rushed with one going for a 51-yard score. Devine, however, had trouble holding onto the ball as he fumbled twice inside the opponents' 10-yard line in the 38-14 playoff victory.

Homestead (Fla.) wide out Alphonso Bryant is one of the many blue-chip receivers on LSU's board and he found the end zone once in a 34-0 shutout of Vacela High. The 4-star receiver finished with four grabs for 60 yards and the one score.

Kendrick Cellestine came up big for Mamou in its 40-29 victory over Alexandria-Menard. The 3-star wide out caught eight passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
