On the first day that coaches were aloud to visit players' houses, Will Blackwell was the first to get a visit from head coach Les Miles.
"I'm the first one they visited in the state, I guess the first one overall," said Blackwell. "That's pretty cool. They stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and talked with me and my parents. We talked about everything from playing time to what I may be majoring in."
Along with the Tigers, Blackwell
also has his eye on Notre Dame and
Blackwell has been to LSU on a couple of unofficial visits this season, but said his official will be in three weeks. He said there are a few important things he will be looking for in the college he chooses to attend.
"Pretty much playing time and how generally comfortable I feel in the system and at the school," said Blackwell. "I'm looking to go somewhere I can just be productive. I like LSU because they are offering early playing time and I really like their coaching staff."
Blackwell said that at this point he isn't considering proximity as a criterion for his decision.
"Not a factor right now," he said. "I'm not looking to stay close to home right now. It may be a factor later in the process, but at this point I'm so wide open, that I'm not even thinking about that."
So, with three schools fighting for his signature is there a leader?
"Everything is wide open," he said. "I haven't really tried to narrow anything down at this point. I want to take my official visits to the other schools and I'll just know it when I know it."
