McKnight drops one visit and adds another

Joe McKnight is one of the most talked about prospects to ever come out of Louisiana and the 5-star running back is at the top of every LSU fan's wish list for the Class of 2007.

There may not be a more versatile and explosive player in the country than Joe McKnight and he backed that up by rushing for 711 yards and 14 touchdowns on only 46 carries and totaling 739 yards and 13 scores on 23 catches.

The honors that will come his way by the time all is said and done will illustrate just how great of a prospect McKnight is and the latest one he has racked up is Louisiana's Mr. Football.

At one point, McKnight had visits set up to three of his favorites but recently one of those visits was canceled.

"I'm not going to go to Notre Dame," he said. "I have to move the USC visit back to the 19th and LSU is the 26th."

Does that mean Notre Dame has been eliminated from the picture?

"Yes," McKnight said.

With visits to USC and LSU on his agenda who are the other schools in the hunt for his signature?

"USC and LSU for sure," he said. "I'm going to go to Ole Miss (1/12) and Arkansas, and debating on Clemson and Miami."

With six schools having a shot to land one of the country's most dynamic payers what was it that allowed them all to make the cut?

"They all play hard and win games," said McKnight. "They are all good programs and have good coaching staffs."

One thing that no other school besides LSU can offer is an hour drive for McKnight's family and friends to watch him play.

Is that something he is considering?

"I definitely like the fact that my family can come see me play and my friends but my family first," said McKnight. "It would be big for coach (J.T. Curtis) too. It would be very big to see him up in the stands watching me play."

Whichever school does land Joe McKnight will likely have to sweat it out all the way until signing day or at least a few days before but in this case it will certainly be worth the wait.
