LSU offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jimbo Fisher has resigned to take a similar position at Florida State University, the school announced on Monday.

Fisher, who spent seven years with the Tigers and was a part of three Sugar Bowl Championship teams, will serve as the Seminoles' offensive coordinator.

"LSU has been a large part of my life," Fisher said on Monday. "These past seven years have been very special for me and my family. LSU is a great place and I have tremendous respect for the LSU fans and the people of Louisiana.

"I just feel that in order for me to accomplish my career goals, this is an opportunity that I can't pass up."

LSU coach Les Miles said he will begin an immediate search for Fisher's replacement.
