As a junior, Joel Ross (6-1, 290, 4.8) recorded 62 tackles, 10 of which were for loss, six sacks, three batted balls and three fumble recoveries. He earned all-state, all- district, all-metro and all-regional awards for his efforts.
"It was really big and really loud," said Ross. "There was a lot of excitement. I think LSU has a good coaching staff and from that game it seems like the student body really supports them. It's always good to have that fan base. Plus, they just have that home feel. I think that's something that is important."
When it comes to favorites, Ross said he has always been a fan of LSU.
"I guess you could say I always rooted for the home team," he said. "They've just always had a good team since I started watching them."
There are a couple of other schools around the SEC have piqued Ross' interest and he already has an offer from one.

Ross said that the NFL is one of his ultimate goals so he will be looking for a school where he can make an impact.
"I like LSU's team, but I don't know about leaders right now," he said. "I'd play anywhere I could play. I just want to get in and get some playing time. I don't even have to start right away. I'll learn the system if I have to."
Ross said his grades are usually around the B or C range and that it is always a "work in progress." He said there a few character things that he believes will be attractive to coaches.
"I'm very coachable," he said. "I have a good work ethic and I'm humble. I'm not one to really brag or boast about anything. I just don't think that's necessary."
