Byrd talks about LSU commitment

Tiger Rag broke the news late Saturday night that 5-star juco wide receiver Demetrius Byrd committed to LSU earlier in the evening.

The Pearl River Community College standout was still on his official visit at the time so he informed us of his decision by a text message.

On Tuesday night, we got a hold of Byrd and asked him how it felt to be a Tiger.

"It feels great," Byrd said. "I can't wait to put on the uniform."

According to Byrd, he had met with LSU head coach Les Miles early Saturday evening and he gave him the good news.

"He was asking me how I liked everything and I told him that I liked it so much I wanted to commit," Byrd explained. "I told him that I want to be here next season. He said ‘you just made my day'."

Florida State's new offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher met with Byrd on Monday evening to talk about his official visit that was scheduled for this weekend but instead the former LSU coach got some bad news.

"I'm not going to take that trip," Byrd said. "LSU doesn't want me to take one. I told coach Monken that even if I visited it wouldn't affect my decision because I'm going to be a Tiger but I'm not going to go now."
