Corley talks about upcoming trip to LSU

With less than a week until signing day, Mobile, Alabama native Sidell Corley of McGill-Toolen High School will be taking his last official visit this weekend as he heads to Baton Rouge to check out Les Miles and the LSU Tigers.

"I'm real excited about this trip," Corley said of his impending visit to LSU. "They were recruiting me hard, and then backed when I committed to Florida, which I think shows they have class and respected my commitment. Once I de-committed they picked back up.

"Even though people never said anything about it, I've been interested in LSU this whole time. Around Mobile they are like a local school."

Corley (6-4, 250, 4.85) said that the Tigers have made it onto his list of four top schools leading up to signing day, along with Tennessee, Alabama and Oklahoma, each of which made it a priority to visit the standout defensive end during the final week of recruiting.

"Alabama and Oklahoma had coaches here earlier this week, and Tennessee was here today," he said Wednesday night. "I think Les Miles is going to be coming by Friday before I head to LSU."

In addition to Miles, Corley has been in contact with LSU's tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator Josh Henson, whom he talked to on Monday.

"Coach Henson's been cool to talk to," Corley said of their phone conversation. "He was just keeping in touch and seeing how I was doing and all that."

The visit to LSU will round out the trips to Corley's top schools, as he has already checked out the programs at Bama, Oklahoma and Tennessee, finding things he liked about each school.

Alabama-- "I like what Alabama has to offer. It's the state school, and coach Saban could come and turn things around. They were on my list before he became the coach."

Oklahoma-- "Oklahoma is way out there, but the distance won't be a factor. They do a good job of putting people in the NFL, and their coaches have a lot to do with that."

Tennessee-- "When I went to Tennessee, I really felt like I was at home. They have a real good family atmosphere, and I could really help out there."

When it comes to LSU, the 4-star defensive end said a few things have piqued his interest.

"LSU is the home school," he said. "Even though it's out-of-state, it's like the home school over here. I like the class they've showed during recruiting, and some big names from Mobile have gone there."

Corley said his main objective for the trip this weekend will be the just get to know the players better and see how well he would fit into the Tiger family.

Corley will not be the first player this season to make the trip to Baton Rouge from McGill-Toolen, as his teammate and close friend Phelon Jones has already committed to LSU.

"Me and Phelon don't ever really talk about football," Corley said when asked if Jones' commitment has played a factor in his decision. "We just like to goof off together. He's never really tried to recruit me because he knows it's my decision. The only thing he's told me is that I am definitely going to enjoy the visit because it's a great place."
