Dallas has his eye on the SEC

Dallas Thomas, an offensive tackle from Baton Rouge (La.) Istrouma, is one of the top offensive linemen in the South and so far he has his eye on some SEC schools.

The 6-6, 275-pounder was a First Team Class 4A All-State selection last season that graded out at 92 percent and did not allow a single sack.

So far, Thomas has received offers from Ole Miss, Tulane and Baylor, and Auburn, LSU and Florida are a few of the other schools that are showing interest and that have caught his eye.

"I think my greatest attribute is my footwork," said Thomas. "I'm a really good pass blocker because I know how to set up and position myself into the right spot."

The fact that Thomas is in LSU's backyard gives the Tigers an advantage over the others and it has given the opportunity to see everything they have to offer.

"I've been a Tiger fan for a while now," said Thomas. "I went to their last home game and got to eat with the team and stuff. I met with coach Les Miles and he seemed like a really nice guy. The atmosphere was crazy. There were so many fans there and it was very loud."

Thomas said he hasn't visited the LSU campus lately but he will this weekend when he attends Junior Day. He said that he already knows about the academics and facilities and that the main thing that interests him right now is how they play football.

"I like the football program because they put players in the league," said Thomas. "Also, they have a very balanced offense, which is something I feel like I could excel in."

Thomas said he plans on camping at LSU this summer, with possible trips to Ole Miss and Tennessee as well.
