Bolden has one offer but looking for more

Scotlandville Magnet High School running back Brandon Bolden (5-11, 210, 4.6) has already picked up one offer this spring, and the Baton Rouge native hopes to pick up a few more before his senior season starts.

"So far, I've gotten an offer from Baylor," said Bolden. "I've also been getting a bunch of letters for lots of different schools, but I haven't really talked to any other coaches yet. The schools I am hearing from the most and that I'm most interested in are LSU, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Wisconsin."

Bolden, who is also a sprinter on the Scotlandville track team and a centerfielder/ pitcher for the baseball squad, said that he has been an LSU fan his entire life, and would like to attend to Spring game this weekend, though it looks like his other sports will get in the way.

"I wanted to get to the LSU game, but I have a baseball game and a track meet that day," he said. "I'd still go if I get the chance, but I doubt I'll be able to make it there."

Though he likely will not get to visit LSU this weekend, Bolden is no stranger to the program, as he has experienced Tiger football several times over the years.

"This past season, I went to two of the LSU football games," he said, "And, I've gone to their camp the past two years. I've never really had a chance to talk to coach Miles one on one, but I have spoken some with coach Porter. He was the running back coach at the LSU camp."

Aside from LSU, Bolden said his other favorites make the list for a variety of reasons.

"Auburn is just a real good team," he said. "Wisconsin stands out because they have a nice running offense and use their backs well. The same goes for Georgia Tech. Baylor is a school that has shown the most interest, and was the first to give me an offer."

When is comes down to making a decision of where he will play college ball, Bolden said he is not looking for any particular type of offense, but for somewhere he can compete to get a good amount of playing time.

"I just want to go somewhere that I'll get a chance to play," he said. "I don't care about staying close to home really, as long as I get to play."

This summer, Bolden plans to attend several camps and will be working on improving is speed before fall practices start.

"I know I'm going to go back to the LSU camp," he told Tiger Rag. "I might also go to the Auburn camp in June. I don't know about other camps yet.  My coach said something to us about playing seven on seven, but I don't know any more about that yet."
