Theriot is a Tiger!

Kellen Theriot has always dreamed of playing college football for the LSU Tigers and now his dream has become a reality.

"It's hard to describe the feeling right now," Theriot said minutes after he committed to Les Miles in person. "It's something I really can't put into words. It's really kind of surreal because of the long road I've had to go to get here. But, it feels great knowing that I'm going to be a Tiger."

Theriot transferred from Acadiana High School in Lafayette to Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas, to play his junior season because of a knee injury that could have potentially derailed those plans. He spent a full week in Baton Rouge during his school's spring break and that time on campus is what sealed the deal.

"I would have committed then had I not already set up the visit to UCLA for last weekend," Theriot explained. "I had already made a commitment to visit UCLA so I wanted to fulfill."

That trip out West to Los Angeles was an eye-opening experience but the one thing that the Bruins could not offer was some home-cooking.

"Going to UCLA put what's important into perspective," said Theriot. "They may have had fancy academic buildings and the coaches were all great but it's all about wearing the purple and gold."

It's not certain as to what position he will play for the Tigers but more than likely it will be a change from what he is accustomed to.

"We only talked once about the position because coach Miles knows I will play wherever they want but all indications are of me playing linebacker or safety," said Theriot, who accounted for over 2,000 yards and 20 scores playing quarterback during his junior season. "The possibility also exists for fullback but I'm thinking it will be somewhere on defense."

Now that recruiting has come to an abrupt ending how does he feel about his decision?

"I can't wait to get home," said Theriot, who picked up early offers from Arkansas and Houston in addition to UCLA. "It's been hard sleeping the last couple of weeks knowing that I'm going home. There is a good chance I can graduate early if everything goes as planned and I can't wait to get there."

Theriot is the third commitment for LSU for 2008 and he will also be in attendance at the Combine in New Orleans on April 21.
