One of those guys that could make an early impact is Bastrop's DeAngelo Benton but there has always been some concern over whether or not he would be academically qualified.
According to Benton, he is almost there.
"I should finish with a 3.0 GPA," said Benton. "School is going pretty good right now. I've just been mostly concentrating on getting all that work done. After this semester we will know where I stand with my GPA because I already have the test score."
Benton said he is also still just as excited to be a Tiger as the day he inked his commitment.
"My feelings haven't changed at all," said Benton. "I still think about it every day and get excited."
On top of school books, Benton has also been following another important book.
"I got a work out book that gives me a work out schedule to follow," said Benton. "It also has a nutritional plan for me and the proper way to do the exercises and work outs that I will need to know when I arrive this summer."
Benton said LSU coaches even came to visit him two weeks ago.
"They came down to check on my academics and just let me know how important of a person I am to the program," said Benton. "But, for them to come down just showed how much they care about me."
But for now, all Benton can do is wait and imagine what his life will be like when he arrives in June.
"For now, I'm getting excited about getting my degree and playing college football," he said.
