Rocky Duplessis said that he was pleasantly surprised when he received his official scholarship offer from LSU and it didn't take long for him to make a decision.
"Coach Miles had told my coach he was going to offer when he came to my school a few weeks ago and I got the offer in the mail this past Monday or Tuesday," Duplessis told Tiger Rag. "I talked to my parents and coach and they asked me if I decided yet and I told them it was my dream to play at LSU and I was going to LSU."
Duplessis tried to give Les Miles a verbal pledge on Thursday but was unable to reach the Tigers' headman.
One day later he was able to reach Miles to tell him the good news.
"He sent me a text and asked me to call him at 8 (p.m.) when he was getting off a plane so I called him and told him I was ready to commit," said Duplessis.
What did Miles have to say upon hearing the news?
"He said he was proud to have my commitment and that he hoped to get me to one of the camps to work with me," said Duplessis. "He said that they are looking at signing a couple of safeties and I was his first one to commit."
Note: Duplessis is the sixth commitment in LSU's 2008 class. As a senior, he was 1st Team Class 4A All-State with 79 tackles and 9 INTs. At the Scout.com Combine in New Orleans he checked in at 5-11 1/2, 186 pounds and ran a 4.50 (40). He also posted a 4.32 in the shuttle,a 7.38 in the L-Cone drill, and had a 32.9" vertical.
